Does THCa Get You High?

Posted by HIGH THCA on Nov 29th 2023

THCa (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is a non-intoxicating compound found in raw or live cannabis plants. When cannabis is heated through processes like smoking, vaping, or cooking, THCa undergoes decarboxylation and converts into THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which is the compound known for its psychoactive effects or the "high" associated with cannabis use.

In its raw form, THCa itself doesn’t produce a high because it doesn’t bind well with the endocannabinoid receptors in the brain. However, when exposed to heat, such as through smoking or vaporization, THCa converts to THC, which can then bind to receptors in the brain and produce psychoactive effects.
